Digital transformation requires pesantren teachers to develop competencies in Artificial Intelligence (AI), while its application in teaching and learning remains relatively limited. This Community Service Program (Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat/PkM) aimed to enhance teachers’ AI literacy and skills in developing instructional materials. The program was conducted at Madrasah Aliyah Pondok Pesantren Daarun Nahdhah Thawalib Bangkinang, Kampar. The PkM activities employed a participatory approach consisting of a needs assessment survey, lectures, demonstrations, workshops, independent practice, mentoring, and reflective evaluation. A total of 25 teachers from various subject areas participated in training on the use of AI tools, particularly ChatGPT. The results indicated that all participants were able to access AI platforms and apply appropriate prompting techniques to develop lesson plans, generate Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) questions and instructional materials, and design subject-specific prompts aligned with their respective teaching areas. The findings demonstrate that hands-on practice and contextual mentoring can strengthen teachers’ confidence and digital competencies. Furthermore, practical AI-based activities serve as an essential means of enabling participants to connect emerging technologies with pedagogical needs. The sustainability of the program requires advanced training, communities of practice, systematic verification of AI-generated outputs, and the development of ethical AI-use policies within pesantren.
