Plagiarism Check

Jurmas Azam Insan Cendikia is committed to helping editors verify the originality of submitted manuscripts.
As part of this process, the journal performs a Similarity Check procedure before the peer-review process.
The journal uses Turnitin or iThenticate, powered by Crossref Similarity Check, to detect duplication and ensure proper attribution in submitted manuscripts.

Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism occurs when an author attempts to present someone else’s work, ideas, or words as their own.
Duplicate publication, also known as self-plagiarism, happens when an author reuses substantial parts of their own previously published work without providing the appropriate citations.
This may include:

  • Submitting identical papers to multiple journals;

  • Reusing sections from prior publications without citation;

  • “Salami-slicing,” where small portions of data or text are published as separate papers.

Plagiarism Prior to Publication

Jurmas Azam Insan Cendikia will evaluate all cases of suspected plagiarism carefully.
If plagiarism is detected by any member of the editorial team, reviewer, or editor — before or after acceptance — the author(s) will be notified immediately.
They will be required to rewrite the affected section(s) or provide proper citations for the original sources.

If the similarity level exceeds 30%, the manuscript may be rejected outright, and the authors will be informed of the decision.

When Is the Plagiarism Check Conducted?

All manuscripts submitted to Jurmas Azam Insan Cendikia are screened for plagiarism:

  • Immediately after submission, and

  • Before the peer-review process begins.

This ensures that only original and properly cited work proceeds to review.

How Is Plagiarism Handled?

The handling of detected plagiarism depends on its extent:

Similarity Level Editorial Action
<5% The manuscript is assigned an ID and proceeds to the review process. Minor revision may be requested if necessary.
5–30% The manuscript is returned to the author for content revision and citation correction before review.
>30% The manuscript is rejected without review. Authors are advised to revise and resubmit the work as a new submission after proper citation and rewriting.

Why Manuscripts with >35% Similarity Are Rejected

If the similarity report shows more than 35% overlap, it indicates a significant lack of originality, making it unlikely that the manuscript can be effectively revised.
However, authors are encouraged to make the necessary corrections and resubmit as a new submission once the manuscript has been substantially rewritten.

Originality

By submitting a manuscript to Jurmas Azam Insan Cendikia, the author(s) confirm that:

  • The work is original and unpublished;

  • It is not under consideration elsewhere;

  • It contains no plagiarism, including duplicate publication of their own previous work, whether in full or in part, without proper citation.

All submitted manuscripts may be checked for originality using reliable anti-plagiarism software such as Turnitin or iThenticate.
