. Waste management and the coordination of community-based environmental initiatives remain challenges in implementing the Climate Village Program (ProKlim) in Pulau Birandang Village, Kampar Regency, Indonesia. This community service initiative conducted by Universitas Lancang Kuning (PKM-UNILAK) aimed to strengthen environmental literacy and identify governance needs for community-based ProKlim implementation. The intervention involved educational sessions covering ProKlim, the contributions of environmental practices to food security and household savings, community mobilization, and waste management. These sessions were followed by participatory discussions to identify local challenges and priorities for further action. Although the program outcomes were not quantitatively measured, a descriptive qualitative evaluation was conducted through a review of educational materials, discussion records, photographic documentation, village institutional documents, and follow-up environmental mitigation and adaptation activities, including medicinal plant cultivation and biopore construction. The discussions indicated emerging awareness among participants of the relationship between environmental practices, food security, and household savings. Furthermore, the establishment of the ProKlim Working Group under Village Head Decree No. 13 of 2026 represented an indication of institutional progress. The documented educational activities, identified governance needs, institutional arrangements, and environmental practices suggest that key program activities were implemented in line with their intended objectives. Nevertheless, strengthening collective community participation in neighborhood-level waste management, developing standard operating procedures, and improving waste management services through broader stakeholder collaboration remain important challenges. These areas are therefore recommended as priorities for future interventions to support sustainable community-based environmental governance.
