Plagiarism Check

Jurnal Ekonomi Manajemen Bisnis Syariah dan Teknologi (EMBISTEK) upholds the highest standards of publication ethics and strictly prohibits all forms of plagiarism and academic misconduct.

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:

  • Using others’ ideas, data, or words without proper acknowledgment;

  • Copying or paraphrasing substantial parts of another’s work without citation;

  • Self-plagiarism, i.e., reusing significant portions of one’s previously published work without referencing the original source;

  • Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously;

  • Translating previously published work without permission or citation.


Policy and Detection

All manuscripts submitted to Jurnal EMBISTEK must be original and free from plagiarism.
To ensure the originality of submissions, every manuscript will be screened using plagiarism detection software such as Turnitin or iThenticate before the review process begins.

  • Manuscripts with a similarity index above 20% (excluding references) will be automatically returned to the author for revision or rejection.

  • Authors are strongly encouraged to check their manuscripts using Turnitin or iThenticate before submission.

  • The editorial team will evaluate similarity reports and make a final decision based on the level, context, and type of similarity found.


Author Responsibilities

Authors must:

  1. Ensure that all submitted manuscripts are entirely original works;

  2. Properly cite all sources and ideas that are not their own;

  3. Avoid excessive self-citation or redundant publication;

  4. Provide permission or acknowledgment for previously published material (if reused);

  5. Take full responsibility for the authenticity and integrity of their submitted work.

If plagiarism is detected during the review or after publication, the editorial board will:

  • Reject or retract the manuscript;

  • Notify the corresponding author and affiliated institution;

  • Ban the author(s) from future publication in Jurnal EMBISTEK for a certain period.


Editorial Responsibilities

The editorial team is responsible for:

  • Conducting plagiarism checks on all submissions before peer review;

  • Ensuring transparency in handling plagiarism cases;

  • Applying consistent ethical standards for all manuscripts;

  • Cooperating with authors, reviewers, and institutions to resolve ethical issues following the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.


This Plagiarism Policy is adapted from COPE’s Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors and Publishers and is enforced by Yayasan Azam Cendikia, Pekanbaru, Riau, Indonesia.
